Bauchi lawmaker, Mrs Maryam Begel, said on Wednesday that investigations conducted revealed that the HIV virus is spreading faster in matrimonial homes in most Northern states of the country than outside the home.

SENATE PROPOSES FIVE-YEAR JAIL TERM FOR RANDY LECTURERS



The Senate on Thursday passed a bill to outlaw sexual advances from lecturers to students of tertiary institutions in the country.

The European Union has said over 22,500 illegal migrants from Nigeria crossed Mediterranean Sea to Europe between January and September as against 23,000 in 2015.

The Deputy Head of EU Delegation in Nigeria, Mr. Richard Young, made this disclosure on Thursday at a media workshop in Abuja.

SENATE OKAYS REMOVAL OF CCB/ CCT FROM PRESIDENSY



In a tensed atmosphere on Thursday, the Senate passed a bill amending the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act, which transfers the controlling powers of the bureau and the tribunal from the President to the National Assembly.

As part of the amendment, the CCT shall be made up of the chairman and four other members, with three of the five forming the quorum at every sitting.
