Radamel Falcao spent Wednesday night under observation in hospital in Monaco after suffering concussion in his team’s 4-0 derby defeat to Nice.
Falcao, 30, went off at half-time of the Ligue 1 encounter after a heavy collision with Nice goalkeeper Yoan Cardinale.
The former Porto and Atletico Madrid striker, who spent the last two seasons on loan at Manchester United and Chelsea, underwent an MRI scan at the Princess Grace hospital in the principality, the results of which were “normal,” according to reports.
“I don’t think it was a foul,” Cardinale added. “I just went into the challenge.”“Rafael was sandwiched and stayed on the ground with pain in his head,” Monaco coach Leonardo Jardim said. “I was surprised, because the free kick was given against us.”
Falcao will now have to follow the protocol advised for concussion cases before resuming training. The striker had only just returned to fitness after suffering a thigh injury in August.
