Anwukah, who spoke at the IMSU Law Lecture Theatre during a session organised by the university in honour of four of its alumni, referred to as the “distinguished senators,” however, said he was optimistic that the economic recession would soon be over.
He said, “Though there are hunger and pain in the land following the economic crash, I know that after this timeout, it will be better for all Nigerians.”
In her remarks, the IMSU Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Adaobi Obasi, said the essence of the event was to honour the institution’s alumni who had been elevated and given higher and sensitive portfolios.
She said, “We appreciate you for graduating from IMSU. You are really good ambassadors of the university.”
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, Mr. Chuks Oseme, has charged youth and residents of the council to be hardworking, especially at this period of economic recession facing the country.The four alumni honoured at the event were: Anwukah, Minister of State for Education; Prof. Chinedu Nwajuba, the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Ndufu, Ebonyi State; Prof. Chima Iwuchukwu, the Vice Chancellor, Tansian University, Umunya, Anambra State; and Prof. Charles Okoroafor, the Vice Chancellor, Gregory University, Uturu, Abia State.
The council boss, who gave the charge at the stakeholders/security meeting at Issele-Uku, the council headquarters, said the people should be creative in order to get out of the economic recession.
Oseme said social amenities like electricity and roads were capable of increasing the economic wellbeing of the people, noting that bad road and lack of electricity were the biggest problems facing the council.
