The Lagos State University (LASU) has announced the demotion of a professor, Olatunji Abanikannda to a senior lecturer over alleged lack of requisite papers and journals.
The demotion was confirmed by the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Olanrewaju Fagbohun in a chat with News Agency.
According to the VC, the University management demoted the professor on the recommendation of the governing council.
It was stated that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) LASU chapter had filed a petition alleging that the former Vice-Chancellor, John Obafunwa, promoted the lecturer without due process.
A five-man panel was inaugurated to investigate the allegations and after several investigations, recommended the demotion of professor Abanikannda.
Abanikannda was the immediate past Director, LASU External System (part-time programme).
