While Atleti were pummelled at home in the Madrid derby by city rivals; Real, the invincibility of Bayern in Germany was ended by Dortmund who piped the Bavarians by a lone goal.
Rostov Vs Bayern
Bayern Munich will be without keeper Manuel Neuer and winger Arjen Robben as they look to keep alive hopes of overtaking Atletico Madrid at the top of Champions League Group D by beating Rostov in Russia.
As it stands, Carlo Ancelotti's side have secured a place in the Champions League last 16 but trail group leaders Atletico Madrid by three points with two games left.
Germany 2014 World Cup winner Neuer, 30, has a calf problem while Robben has a muscle injury.
Rostov have one point from four games - as many as PSV Eindhoven, who are away to Atletico. The best that Rostov or PSV can do is move into the Europa League by taking third place in the group.
Atletico vs PSV
For Atletico, they are keen to shake off their derby defeat by Real to close in on top spot in Champions League Group D by beating PSV Eindhoven.
The 3-0 home loss to their fierce rivals was a second league defeat in a row for Diego Simeone's team and left them down in sixth place in LaLiga.
Nevertheless, Los Rojiblancos continue to boast an impressive European run.
Atletico, runners-up to Real in the 2014 and 2016 Champions League finals, are defending a 100 per cent record from four Group D ties which has seen them already qualify for the knockout stages again - albeit needing a stoppage-time goal from Antoine Griezmann to beat Rostov last time out.
With second-placed Bayern Munich three points behind, another victory would see the Spanish side in a strong position to go through as one of the seeded teams.
Indeed, should Atletico better Bayern's result away to Rostov, then they would clinch Group D ahead of the final fixture in Munich.
Atletico boss Simeone told a press conference: "Without totally forgetting the past few games we've had, we're focused on the here and now.
"It is healthy and important for the club to already be qualified for the knockout stages, because it is not easy.
"We are working along the same lines as always. We know the difficulties that PSV can cause us.
"We are focused on tomorrow and we want to finish top of the group, of course."
A place in the Europa League is still possible for Phillip Cocu's men, who are currently third in the Eredivisie.
The Coach said he is expecting nothing more than a fully focused performance at the Vicente Calderon.
"Atletico didn't get the rub of the green in some games in the league, but they are a quality side and tomorrow will be a difficult game for us, but we will fight," he said at a press conference.
"It can be an opportunity. We aren't able to get into the knockout stage, but we can continue in Europe and we want to get a result, a draw or maybe better."
