Family, Friends To Immortalise photojournalist, Yinka Adeparusi


Award-winning photojournalist, Yinka Adeparusi, is to be immortalised through a foundation that will inspire young journalists.

Adeparusi Yinka Adeparusi lost his life in an accident around Karu in Abuja in November, shocking his colleagues, family and friends, who are now bent on ensuring his legacy is preserved.
To achieve the goal, a committee has been set up to determine how the Yinka Adeparusi Foundation can play a positive role in the media industry and preserve his name.
“Yinka Adeparusi Foundation seeks to promote Yinka Ezekiel Adeparusi works in cinematography, Photojournalism and creative writing,” a statement by the committee said.

According to the committee, the foundation will inspire young cinematographers, photojournalists, and journalists.

It added, “The foundation will set out each year to organise public lecture to be handled by seasoned media professionals.”
Members of the committee include Kola Kasali, Lekan Oluokun, Kemi Agosu, Abosede Sketch, Agoola Odesanya and Kunle Kalejaiye – alumni of Lagos state University.
Others are Sadiq Adelakun, Frank Oshodi, Jerry Wright (Naij.com), Mojeed Alabi (New Telegraph) and Alade Abiodun (Daily Trust) representing the media industry.
Representatives from the Adeparusi family are also part of the committee.
The late Adeparusi graduated from the Lagos State University School of Communication, where he bagged double honours in Photojournalism and Cinematography and minor in Mass Communication.
He won the photojournalism award at the 6th Wole Soyinka Award for Investigative Reporting in 2011 and received several other awards in the course of his career.
