NAFDAC Releases Preliminary Test Result On ‘Plastic Rice’

SHOCKING: Customs Intercept 102 Bags Of Plastic Rice
National Agency for Food Drug Administration and Control, Thursday, disclosed that result of the preliminary test on alleged plastic rice sent by the Nigerian Customs, reveal there is no evidence that there was plastic rice in Lagos.

Federal Operations Unit (FOU) of the Nigeria Customs Service, (NCS), yesterday, had uncovered and seized several bags, which the agency claimed were plastic rice.
The Customs Area Comptroller (CAC), Federal Operations Unit, Zone ‘A’, Ikeja; Comptroller Haruna Mamudu said the unit seized no fewer than 102 bags of the plastic rice at a warehouse in Ikeja, Lagos.
Mamudu said, bags of plastic which has been packaged for sale during the yuletide were to be evacuated before operatives of the swooped on the managers of the warehouse.
According to Mamudu, the imported rice, which was branded as ‘best tomato’, had no manufacture, expiry date and NAFDAC registration number.
But in a series of tweets, the Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, said base on NAFDAC’s preliminary test, there is no evidence backing up claims that the rice was plastic.
