Quadri Faces Zhendong, Long For ITTF Award

Nigeria’s table tennis star, Aruna Quadri, will battle China’s Fan Zhendong and Ma Long as well as Japan’s Jun Mizutani for the ITTF Star Awards on Thursday.

The event will take place at the Sheraton Hotel in Doha, Qatar.

The awards, which is in its fourth year, was organised to celebrate outstanding table tennis players during the year.

Quadri was nominated for the Male Table Tennis Star of the Year – an award he won in 2014 for the first time.

He will be hoping to become the second player after Long to win the award twice.

In the Female Star Player of the Year category, China’s Ding Ning, Korea Republic’s Kim Song I and Japanese duo Miu Hirano and Mima Ito are the nominees.

Over seven award categories will be given out with the result of fans’ voting combined with the judging outcome by an expert panel, which include their peers and the media, will determine the Table Tennis Stars of 2016.
