SEE SUPER EAGLES NEW FIFA RANKING. THE RANK WILL SUPRISE YOU

Nigeria  dropped  to the 51st position in the latest FIFA Rankings, which were released by the world football body on Thursday.

However, the Super Eagles, who rose 10 places to place  50th  in November, retained their eighth position in Africa.

Algeria (38) and Cameroon (65), who are in Group B of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers alongside Nigeria,  remain on their previous spots in the world. The other team in their group, Zambia, however climbed three spots to place 88th in the world rankings.

Senegal and Ivory Coast maintained their first and second positions on  the continent. They are ranked 33rd and 34th in the world respectively.

But North Africans, Tunisia who dropped a spot to become 35th in the world and Egypt, who maintained their 36th position, are Africa’s third and fourth best teams.  Algeria  retained their position as Africa’s fifth ranked team.

DR Congo (48) dropped one spot while Burkina Faso (50) retained November’s spot to be ranked Africa’s sixth and seventh ranked teams. Ghana (53) and Morocco (57), who both maintained their places from last month, complete Africa’s top 10 for December.

Nigeria’s next opponents in the World Cup qualifiers Cameroon retained their  place after their two 1-1 draws against Algeria and Zambia in the qualifiers in November. They are 13th in Africa. Zambia moved up  after their away draw with Cameroon.

The Eagles, who will not be at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon, have been unbeaten under coach Gernot Rohr after three straight wins over Tanzania, Zambia and Algeria.

The top 10 in the world also remained unchanged as Argentina maintained their number one position while Brazil, Germany, Chile and Belgium are second, third, fourth and fifth. Colombia, France, Portugal, Uruguay and Spain complete the top 10 in the world
