Besides drinking water to wash debris out of our mouths and keep them clean, here is a list you will want to read to combat that nasty bacteria that has us trying to cover our mouth or breathe away from someone when we are mid-conversation.
1. Use Good Bacteria to Fight Bad Bacteria with Yogurt
Struggle with halitosis? Cucumbers are not only for salads and puffy eyes. They contain a photochemical which will
kill the bacteria causing bad breath. Take a cucumber slice and hold it on the roof of your mouth with your tongue for 30 seconds. Add a few slices to your water for an extra boost to your health.
Skip the sugar-filled breath mints and go straight to the plant. The peppermint plant that is. Peppermint has many health benefits, including fighting halitosis. Sipping on a soothing cup of peppermint tea can
inhibit the growth of bad bacteria and provide you with a fresher mouth. It can be enjoyed at anytime of the day as it is caffeine free.
Some would say that cilantro has an acquired taste. This is definitely one taste you want to acquire if you struggle with bad breath.
Cilantro has long been used to treat this ailment.Let's say you are making dinner and cannot resist adding a little pungent garlic for added flavor, and then enjoy an after-dinner coffee while you're at it. You can try to avoid that long-lasting odor in your mouth by simply chewing on a few sprigs of cilantro.
Celery lovers you are in luck. Celery has a long list of vitamins and nutrients including vitamin K, folate, potassium, and vitamin B2 to name a few. More importantly it is rich in fibre.
Fibre-rich foods help produce saliva. Saliva helps to wash away plaque, which is one cause of bad breath. You can think of this the next time you crunch into a celery stick.
If you are ever in a dilemma where you are not allowed to chew gum and you're having the bad breath blues,
break off a small chunk of cinnamon to chew on instead. It will help to kill the bacteria in your mouth. Plus it smells and tastes great.
If we were to look back to ancient times, this is one spice we would definitely see. Cardamom is native to India and has been used for it's many health benefits for several thousand years.
It is effective in preventing bad breath, although you may not want to solely use cardamom to battle halitosis, as it is the third most expensive spice in the world.
Have you ever gotten the urge to snack on a raw piece of ginger? It's not just curiosity, your body is telling you something. This is yet another effective food in the fight against bad breath. If you do not like the taste, try it in a tea; my favorite way to consume ginger.
This creamy and deliciously appetizing fruit is really a
natural toothbrush. It cleanses your mouth as you chew. It amazingly cleans out food particles and bacteria caught in your throat and intestines. Next time I forget my toothbrush, I may just try chowing down on an avocado.

Sometimes bad breath goes deeper than in our mouths. It can be caused by
digestive disorders. You can get to the root of the problem by chewing on 1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons of fennels seeds/day to help with digestive problems and thus take care of the bad breath. If you've ever tried fennel seeds you'll know that they have a similar taste to licorice that is mildly sweet.
