Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has admitted that the limited number of midweek matches has helped his side recover and train more. Having finished the previous season out of Europe qualification spot, the Blues have had the pleasure of playing lesser games which Conte has also admitted.
The Blues maintained their unbeaten run since their heavy defeat to Arsenal, thrashing Everton by 5-0 at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking after the match, the Italian said: ‘It’s important because we have more days to work.
When you arrive at a new club you need time to work if you want to bring your methods, ideas and philosophies, but I’d prefer to play in the Champions League, it’s a great tournament and a team like Chelsea must play in it.’
Affirming Chelsea’s excellent form, Toffees boss Ronald Koeman said: ‘Chelsea showed us a very high level of football in every aspect,’
‘How aggressive you need to play, quality on the ball and winning second balls, there was a big difference. I didn’t expect it but that’s what happened.’
Conte’s men have clearly benefitted from the 3-4-3 formation which has allowed the likes of Nemanja Matic, Victor Moses and Pedro shone like never before.
