Super Eagles Manager Gernot Rohr has said he is not oblivious of the tactics his counterpart in the Algerian team Georges Lekeens is going to adopt when the two sides meet in a World Cup qualifier in Uyo on Saturday but his players
are ready.
Rohr said that the Algerians were going to rely more on counter attacks but he has a game plan that can ultimately curtail them.
He warned that the North Africans have players that could hurt the Eagles on the break and Nigerian players must be focused throughout the encounter.
“We are aware of how they play, they like to have the possession of the ball but I don’t think they will want to do that here, they will rely more on counter attacks, they will like to hit us on the break because they have players that can do that.
“Ikeme has been terrific for this team but he is not here. There is no problem about that. Daniel Akpeyi did well when Ikeme was injured against Egypt and we are happy Daniel is here with us now.“
They have players with incredible pace but we have our plans on how to stop them,” he said. The coach also spoke on the absence of goalkeeper Carl Ikeme due to injury.
We have two goalkeepers who are doing well abroad and there is also Ezenwa who has been with this team for sometime. Any of the three goalkeepers can do well when they play,” he said.
