Gambia Assembly Extends President Jammeh's Tenure

Reports coming in from Gambia say that the West African country's National Assembly has passed a resolution giving the incumbent president Yahya Jammeh a three-month tenure extension.

Aljazeera reports that several countries are already taking their citizens out of the West African country with British and Dutch travel agencies trying to evacuate thousands of tourists on Wednesday

Meanwhile, there are reports that Jammeh is reportedly planning to flee the country shortly after declaring a state of emergency.

A photo recently surfaced online showing Gambia's presidential jet on the runway, ready for escape.

According to a Twitter user @mamasarr, an instruction was given to clear the airport of all other security officers, including NIA officers because Jammeh's wife and kids were fleeing the country.
