Antonio Conte has admitted his shock that Victor Moses had been sidelined by previous Chelsea managers, after bringing the Nigerian international in from the cold.
Moses, who was signed by Roberto Di Matteo in 2012 and loaned out on three occasions by Jose Mourinho, has been a key part of the Blues’ rise to the summit of the Premier League, starting as a wing-back in Conte’s preferred 3-4-3 formation.
Since their two defeats to Liverpool and Arsenal, the Londoners have won all their league games and are yet to concede a goal while scoring 17 along the way.
“I could see his potential from the first days of the summer training camp,” Conte, who joined Chelsea after stepping down as Italy boss this summer, told Gazzetta dello Sport (via Football Italia).
“Moses has important qualities: technique, physical strength, the ability to cover 70 metres of the pitch.
“I find it incredible that someone like him has been underestimated.”
Despite signing for the club in 2012, Moses had only made 20 appearances prior to this season after being sent out on season long loans to Liverpool, Stoke City and West Ham for the past three campaigns.
The 25-year-old is clearly enjoying his football under Conte as he finally gets his chance at Stamford Bridge.
What do you make of Victor Moses’s performance this season so far?
